The best small guitar amp for home recording

Best guitar amp for home recording
Look no further: Yamaha THR 10 is
the best home recording guitar amplifier
When reading music gear articles of this type, one may expect the reviewer should take several home recording guitar amps into consideration and recommend the best one after detailed comparison of them all, right?
But that's not going to be the case this time.
Here's the reason why: all of the others home recording guitar amps come and go, but Yamaha THR10 stays at the top as the best small guitar amp home recording for years now.
It's simple as that, so I won't waste your time with any newborn stars that may fade in couple of months from now.
I may be wrong though, but hundreds upon hundreds positive reviews about this amp is telling me I'm not the only one who's in love with this amp!

Why Yamaha THR10 is the best guitar home recording amp?

Let's for a moment think about the features we expect perfect home recording amp to have.
Here's my wishlist:
- Home recording amp should be small in power but great in sound. That's a really tricky part. Most of the amps can't do that and sound great only when cranked up.
- The amp should offer USB out for recording directly to computer, hard drive recorder or similar digital device, but good speaker tone quality of the amp is also a must for miking.
- It should sound great not only with electric, but also with acoustic guitars and bass guitars (if possible)
- The price of the amp should be reasonable.

Yamaha THR10 meets all the above demands of mine!

Here's what you get for the bucks:

  • Yamaha THR10 is 10W amp suitable for both home recording and home practicing
  • Absolutely beautiful tube guitar amp sound you can record either via amp's USB output or by microphone directly to your computer. This means the amp is audio interface as well!
  • This amp is modeling amp: it offers truly impressive sounds from several different legendary amps... just watch this: Fender Twin Reverb, Vox AC30, Marshall Plexi, Marshall JCM 800 and Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier! The emulation of these amps is so realistic it gave me goosebumps, honestly. Please check the video titled "electric guitar home recording" bellow to hear it for yourself.
  • You can choose from chorus, flanger, phaser and tremolo effects, but also one of four delay/reverb effects including my favorite spring reverb (I'm a kind of vintage guy, you know...)
  • It works great with electric, acoustic and bass guitars as it offers the switch between these instruments (please check the video below for demonstration)
  • Additional perks are: USB and audio AUX, phones output, digital tuner, five memory slots for your presets and some more!
  • You'd definitely want to hear how Yamaha THR10 works in home studio while recording electric, acoustic and bass guitar.

Acoustic piezo guitar home recording with Yamaha THR10 amp:

Acoustic guitars miking in home recording studio may be a little tricky due to background noise, and piezo guitars are obvious solution for that. Here's how piezo guitar sounds with Yamaha THR10. All the effects are from the amp.

Bass guitar home recording with Yamaha THR10 amp:

Here's how Swedish bassist Jimmy Källqvist sounds in home studio while playing some famous grooves by Michael McDonald, Bruno Mars and Stevie Wonder.

Electric guitar home recording with Yamaha THR10 amp

I think that the sound of electric guitar through Yamaha THR10 is truly amazing.
Not only for single music genre, but almost all of them, anywhere from clean to heavy metal.

Yamaha THR10 sounds great in real studio as well

LA based studio guitar tech/producer Marc VanGool records an entire track using Yamaha THR10 amp only! Of course, the conclusion is that Yamaha THR10 is not only home studio recording amp, but also professional recording amp too.
